“Children at Risk” by graffiti artist Karski: a series of paintings that highlight the plight of street children in Rio de Janeiro
Karski was deeply moved by the children he saw living on the streets of Rio de Janeiro. Many of them sniffed glue or begged for money to buy food or drugs. The images of these children stayed with him. He decided to paint them as part of a series called “Children at Risk”.
In this series of graffiti artworks, Karski captures the innocence and vulnerability of these children. The photos he used for inspiration are from the “Hummingbirds program”.
Karski’s series is a reminder that childhood should be a time of joy and freedom, not despair and fear.
