Commissioned by NOC NSF, a colourful new mural was painted in The Hague's Schilderswijk. The mural, created by street art artist Karski, shows ten Dutch sports heroes from the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo and Beijing.
The murals feature ten Dutch sports heroes from the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo and Beijing. They include the skating queens of the most recent Winter Games Ireen Wüst and Irene Schouten. But also the top athletes from The Hague Khalid Choukoud and Kiran Badloe, Lisa Bunschoten, Sifan Hassan, Kjeld Nuis, Fleur Jong, Niek Kimman and Jetze Plat can be admired in the Schilderswijk.
The Netherlands Olympic Committee (NOC) and Sport Nederland (NSF) commissioned this mural as part of their campaign to promote sports in the country. The figures in the painting are considered role models for Dutch youth, and the artwork is intended to encourage young people to become more active and participate in sports.
The mural has been very well received by the local community and has become a popular spot for photos and selfies. It is a great example of how street art can be used to convey positive messages and inspire people to live an active lifestyle.
