Award-winning mural project for housing association Staedion

For the "My home" competition organized by housing association Staedion, artist duo Karski & Beyond developed an innovative community participation plan that won them first prize. This competition offered residents the opportunity to submit proposals for improving their immediate living environment.

From three to four murals on Laakweg

The winning proposal initially included three murals for Laakweg in The Hague. Due to overwhelmingly positive feedback from the neighborhood, Staedion decided to expand the project with a fourth mural. For each artwork, local residents actively participated in the design process, ensuring the murals perfectly matched the community's preferences and needs.

Community participation in public space art. This project demonstrates the power of participatory art in public spaces. By involving residents in the creative process, the murals became more than just visually appealing artworks - they created a strong connection with the neighborhood. The collaboration between Karski & Beyond, Staedion and local residents resulted in artwork that genuinely improves the living environment.
